OUR MISSION

IndiraSamudra is dedicated to uplifting fisherfolk communities in Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh, India) through seaweed cultivation and processing.

Our mission is to unlock the potential of seaweed by building end-to-end value chains that enable fisher communities to transition towards seaweed cultivation-creating resilient coastal livelihoods, diversifying incomes, and fostering community empowerment and healthier oceans.

WHAT WE DO

Seaweed cultivation empowers small-scale fisherfolk by creating new income streams while preserving their relationship with the ocean.

Cultivation and Production

We cultivate Kappaphycus alvarezii, a high-value red seaweed, using HDPE raft systems along the coast of Visakhapatnam-enabling scalable and sustainable ocean based production.

Processing and

Value-Addition

We are setting up a micro-processing unit to convert seaweed into sap that would be used for production of agricultural inputs. This is helping us enable value addition and strengthen local processing capabilities.

Market Linkages (Business to Business)

We supply raw and partially processed seaweed to businesses, creating a reliable market and ensuring consistent income opportunities for coastal producers.
